Supplier Quality Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission

You build a robust supplier quality ecosystem by assessing and auditing suppliers remotely and on site, covering QMS (ISO 9001), EHS (ISO 14001/45001), lab competence (ISO 17025), and traceability/data integrity, and you ensure findings are closed on time.
You build risk-based supplier control plans with input from R&D, Product Quality, and Production, defining what to check, how to check, and at which frequency.
You design incoming inspection and rapid screening approaches, set sampling plans and acceptance criteria, and establish clear quarantine and disposition workflows.
You review incoming lots against the control plan, use dashboards and auto-flagging to spot issues early, and coordinate release or quarantine efficiently.
You lead supplier-related nonconformities from triage and containment to root-cause analysis with 5-Why and Ishikawa, facilitate 8D with suppliers, and verify CAPA effectiveness.
You partner with suppliers on focused improvements to cut defects, moisture and impurities, and delivery variability, aligned with production needs.
You maintain supplier scorecards and risk heatmaps, report meaningful KPIs across quality and delivery performance, and recommend mitigations including dual-sourcing or exit strategies.

Your profile

You have 3+ years of supplier quality engineering experience in automotive, battery, chemical, materials, or related process industries; startup or scale-up exposure is a plus.
You hold a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
You have strong knowledge of specifications and analytical methods (ICP, FTIR, Karl Fischer, GC/HPLC) as well as SPC, MSA, FMEA, and 8D/5-Why.
You have a good knowledge of ISO 9001 and are familiar with ISO 17025, ISO 14001/45001, and chain-of-custody schemes.
You are comfortable working with QMS/LIMS/MES systems, understand data integrity principles, and can navigate supplier portals.
You communicate with clarity and influence, tailoring your message to suppliers, operations, engineers, and customers; you negotiate constructively and build trust.
You are experienced in conducting value-adding audits and are able to travel to supplier sites internationally (up to 20%).
You are proficient in German and English.
You thrive in a dynamic environment with high management exposure and are willing to go the extra mile when required.

About us

cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.

Our process

The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.

cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.

Deine Aufgaben

Du baust ein belastbares Lieferanten‑Qualitätssystem auf und auditierst Lieferanten remote und vor Ort zu QMS (ISO 9001), EHS (ISO 14001/45001), Laborkompetenz (ISO 17025) sowie Rückverfolgbarkeit/Datenintegrität. Abweichungen verfolgst Du konsequent bis zum fristgerechten Abschluss.
Du entwickelst risikobasierte Kontrollpläne gemeinsam mit R&D, Product Quality und Produktion: was prüfen, wie prüfen, und in welcher Frequenz.
Du konzipierst Wareneingangsprüfungen und Rapid‑Screenings, legst Stichprobenpläne und Annahmekriterien fest und etablierst klare Quarantäne‑ und Dispositions‑Workflows.
Du prüfst eingehende Chargen gegen den Kontrollplan, nutzt Dashboards und Auto‑Flags zur Früherkennung und koordinierst Freigabe oder Quarantäne effizient.
Du führst lieferantenbezogene Non‑Conformities vom Triage und Containment bis zur Ursachenanalyse (5‑Why, Ishikawa), moderierst 8D mit Lieferanten und verifizierst die Wirksamkeit von CAPA.
Du arbeitest mit Lieferanten an fokussierten Verbesserungen, um Defekte, Feuchtigkeit/Verunreinigungen und Lieferstreuung zu reduzieren – im Einklang mit den Produktionsbedarfen.
Du pflegst Lieferanten‑Scorecards und Risiko‑Heatmaps, berichtest relevante KPIs zu Qualität und Lieferperformance und empfiehlst Maßnahmen wie Dual‑Sourcing oder Exit‑Strategien.

Dein Profil

Du hast mehr als 3 Jahre Erfahrung in der Lieferantenqualität in Automotive, Batterie, Chemie, Materialien oder verwandten Prozessindustrien; Erfahrung in Startups/Scale‑ups ist ein Plus.
Du bringst einen Abschluss in Chemieingenieurwesen, Materialwissenschaften, Chemie oder einem verwandten Feld mit.
Du hast fundiertes Wissen zu Spezifikationen und Analyseverfahren (ICP, FTIR, Karl Fischer, GC/HPLC) sowie zu SPC, MSA, FMEA und 8D/5‑Why.
Du bringst gute Kenntnisse in ISO 9001 und Vertrautheit mit ISO 17025, ISO 14001/45001 sowie Chain‑of‑Custody‑Schemata mit.
Du bist sicher im Umgang mit QMS/LIMS/MES, mit Prinzipien der Datenintegrität und in Lieferantenportalen.

Changing the game

cylib ist ein forschungsbasiertes deutsches Scale Up für ganzheitliches Batterierecycling - von der Entladung bis zur Rückgewinnung aller Komponenten der Lithiumbatterie - das 2022 in Aachen von drei visionären Gründern, darunter einer weiblichen Geschäftsführerin, gegründet wurde.

Unser Prozess

Der cylib-Prozess bietet einen kompletten End-to-End-Prozess vom Batteriepack bis zum grünen Batteriematerial, indem es eine Kombination aus mechanischer und thermischer Vorbehandlung sowie eine innovative Lithium- und Graphitrückgewinnung auf Wasserbasis einsetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den etablierten Unternehmen kann cylib daher Batteriematerialien wie Lithium, Graphit oder Mangan zurückgewinnen. Das Verfahren wurde in mehrjähriger Forschungsarbeit an der RWTH Aachen entwickelt und bietet eine effiziente, ressourcen- und klimafreundliche Rückgewinnung aller Batteriematerialien aus Altbatterien.

Die Technologie von cylib ermöglicht die Rückgewinnung aller Batteriekomponenten, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um eine End-of-Life-Batterie oder Produktionsausschuss handelt. Die Rückgewinnung grüner Sekundärrohstoffe aus dem cylib-Prozess ermöglicht die Verwirklichung einer echten Kreislaufwirtschaft auf dem europäischen Markt.
