Head of Controlling (m/f/d) in Scale-Up for Battery Recycling

Your mission

As Head of Controlling, you will assume overall strategic responsibility for setting up, developing and managing our controlling landscape. You will drive forward the continuous optimisation of the budget, forecasting and planning processes and ensure their integration into the corporate strategy.
You will also take over the technical and personnel management of our Controlling team and be responsible for the further development of the team.
You will develop and be responsible for a holistic system of key figures to manage the company's performance, ensure the quality assurance of all financial data and establish transparent, forward-looking reporting.
You create and present decision-relevant management reports and analyses for the management and actively support them in deriving and implementing measures to achieve the company's goals.
You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining reporting databases and dashboards (e.g. in Power BI). You will ensure clarity of content and visual quality in all reports and presentations.
You will carry out comprehensive variance analyses and profitability calculations and ensure compliance with financial targets and guidelines.
You act as a strategic sparring partner for the management and all departments, promote cross-departmental cooperation and continuously develop the Controlling team both professionally and personally.

Your profile

You have relevant experience in controlling or in an FP&A role (>5 years), including relevant experience in leading and coordinating teams.
You have demonstrable responsibility for budgeting and monthly reporting processes.
You have hands-on experience with Power BI or similar tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker) and are able to build and maintain reporting databases and data pipelines.
You have strong skills in the visual design of appealing reports and dashboards for the management.
Your knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is excellent.
You have a proven track record of developing or establishing controlling processes and are motivated to scale controlling processes with a hands-on approach.
You show a high degree of responsibility, commitment and flexibility to achieve our company goals.
You work in a thorough, analytical and structured manner and have excellent skills in analysing and preparing data.
Sound knowledge of SAP and the implementation of SAP (ideally in S4Hana) is an advantage.
You are fluent in written and spoken German and English.

About us

cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.

Our process

The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.

cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.

Deine Aufgaben

Als Head of Controlling übernimmst Du die strategische Gesamtverantwortung für den Aufbau, die Weiterentwicklung und die Steuerung unserer Controlling-Landschaft. Dabei treibst du die kontinuierliche Optimierung der Budget-, Forecast- und Planungsprozesse voran und stellst deren Integration in die Unternehmensstrategie sicher.
Zudem übernimmst du die fachliche und personelle Führung unseres Controlling-Teams und bist für den weiteren Aufbau des Teams verantwortlich.
Du entwickelst und verantwortest ein ganzheitliches Kennzahlensystem zur Steuerung der Unternehmensperformance, gewährleistest die Qualitätssicherung aller Finanzdaten und etablierst ein transparentes, zukunftsorientiertes Reporting.
Du erstellst und präsentierst entscheidungsrelevante Management-Reports und Analysen für die Geschäftsführung und unterstützt diese aktiv bei der Ableitung und Umsetzung von Maßnahmen zur Erreichung der Unternehmensziele.
Du verantwortest den Aufbau und die Pflege von Reporting-Datenbanken sowie Dashboards (z.B. in Power BI). Dabei stellst du die inhaltliche Klarheit und visuelle Qualität in allen Berichten und Präsentationen sicher.
Du führst umfassende Abweichungsanalysen und Wirtschaftlichkeitsrechnungen durch und sorgst für die Einhaltung finanzieller Zielen und Vorgaben.
Du agierst als strategischer Sparringspartner für die Geschäftsführung und alle Fachbereiche, förderst die bereichsübergreifende Zusammenarbeit und entwickelst das Controlling-Team kontinuierlich fachlich und persönlich weiter.

Dein Profil

Du bringst relevante Erfahrung im Controlling oder in einer FP&A-Rolle mit (>5 Jahre), davon relevante Erfahrung in der Leitung und Koordination von Teams.
Du hast nachweislich Verantwortung für Budgetierungs- und monatliche Reporting-Prozesse getragen.
Du verfügst über praktische Erfahrung mit Power BI oder ähnlichen Tools (z.B. Tableau, Looker) und bist in der Lage, Reporting-Datenbanken und Datenpipelines aufzubauen und zu pflegen.
Du besitzt ausgeprägte Fähigkeiten in der visuellen Gestaltung ansprechender Reports und Dashboards für die Geschäftsführung.
Deine Kenntnisse in Excel und PowerPoint sind exzellent.
Du hast nachweislich bereits Controlling-Prozesse entwickelt oder etabliert und bist motiviert, Controlling-Prozesse zu skalieren und dabei praxisorientiert vorzugehen.
Du zeigst ein hohes Maß an Verantwortungsbewusstsein, Engagement und Flexibilität, um unsere Unternehmensziele zu erreichen.
Du arbeitest gründlich, analytisch und strukturiert und besitzt ausgezeichnete Fähigkeiten zur Datenanalyse und -aufbereitung.

Du beherrschst Deutsch und Englisch fließend in Wort und Schrift.

Changing the game

cylib ist ein forschungsbasiertes deutsches Scale Up für ganzheitliches Batterierecycling - von der Entladung bis zur Rückgewinnung aller Komponenten der Lithiumbatterie - das 2022 in Aachen von drei visionären Gründern, darunter einer weiblichen Geschäftsführerin, gegründet wurde.

Unser Prozess

Der cylib-Prozess bietet einen kompletten End-to-End-Prozess vom Batteriepack bis zum grünen Batteriematerial, indem es eine Kombination aus mechanischer und thermischer Vorbehandlung sowie eine innovative Lithium- und Graphitrückgewinnung auf Wasserbasis einsetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den etablierten Unternehmen kann cylib daher Batteriematerialien wie Lithium, Graphit oder Mangan zurückgewinnen. Das Verfahren wurde in mehrjähriger Forschungsarbeit an der RWTH Aachen entwickelt und bietet eine effiziente, ressourcen- und klimafreundliche Rückgewinnung aller Batteriematerialien aus Altbatterien.

Die Technologie von cylib ermöglicht die Rückgewinnung aller Batteriekomponenten, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um eine End-of-Life-Batterie oder Produktionsausschuss handelt. Die Rückgewinnung grüner Sekundärrohstoffe aus dem cylib-Prozess ermöglicht die Verwirklichung einer echten Kreislaufwirtschaft auf dem europäischen Markt.
