Sub-Project Manager (m/f/d) for the construction of a battery recycling factory

Your mission

You will take over the independent management of a sub-project (> € 20 million) as part of the construction of an innovative hydrometallurgical battery recycling plant and accompany all project phases from planning to successful commissioning.
You will lead an interdisciplinary and international project team and ensure smooth cooperation between all departments involved.
You are responsible for the budget and cost controlling of your sub-project and are responsible for selecting, negotiating and managing supplier and service provider contracts.
You coordinate the technical planning and procurement of system components in close cooperation with technology partners and engineering service providers.
You will monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with schedules and quality standards and guarantee efficient project progress.
You accompany official approval processes and ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, occupational health and safety and immission control regulations in your project area.
You report regularly to the overall project management and the management, identify risks at an early stage and actively manage their mitigation across all project phases.

Your profile

You have successfully completed a degree in engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering or a comparable field.
You have at least 3-5 years of experience in managing large-scale projects in plant engineering, preferably in the chemical or (battery) recycling industry.
You have sound knowledge in the management of challenging EPC(M) projects and in dealing with general contractors. A project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
Your sound knowledge of project controlling and risk management as well as your expertise in approval procedures and official coordination will contribute significantly to the success of the project.
Ideally, you are familiar with waste management regulations, immission control and the structures of a chemical park.
You enjoy working in a team, taking responsibility and working with others to achieve ambitious goals.
You have strong communication and negotiation skills and are able to professionally involve a wide range of stakeholders.

About us

cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.

Our process

The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.

cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.

Deine Aufgaben

Du übernimmst die eigenständige Leitung eines Teilprojekts (> 20 Mio. €) im Rahmen des Baus einer innovativen hydrometallurgischen Batterie-Recyclinganlage und begleitest sämtliche Projektphasen von der Planung bis zur erfolgreichen Inbetriebnahme.
Du führst fachlich ein interdisziplinäres sowie internationales Projektteam und sorgst für eine reibungslose Zusammenarbeit aller beteiligten Fachbereiche.
Du verantwortest das Budget und das Kostencontrolling deines Teilprojekts und bist für die Auswahl, Verhandlung und Steuerung von Lieferanten- und Dienstleisterverträgen zuständig.
Du koordinierst die technische Planung und Beschaffung von Anlagenkomponenten in enger Abstimmung mit Technologiepartnern und Engineering-Dienstleistern.
Du überwachst den Baufortschritt und stellst die Einhaltung von Zeitplänen sowie Qualitätsstandards sicher und gewährleistest einen effizienten Projektfortschritt.
Du begleitest behördliche Genehmigungsprozesse und achtest auf die Einhaltung aller relevanten Vorschriften zu Umwelt-, Arbeits- und Immissionsschutz in deinem Projektbereich.
Du berichtest regelmäßig an die Gesamtprojektleitung und die Geschäftsführung, identifizierst frühzeitig Risiken und steuerst aktiv deren Minimierung über alle Projektphasen hinweg.

Dein Profil

Du hast ein erfolgreich abgeschlossenes Studium im Bereich Ingenieurwissenschaften, Verfahrenstechnik, Chemieingenieurwesen oder in einer vergleichbaren Fachrichtung.
Du verfügst über mindestens 3–5 Jahre Erfahrung in der Leitung von Großprojekten im Anlagenbau, bevorzugt in der Chemie- oder (Batterie-) Recycling-Industrie.
Du bringst fundierte Kenntnisse im Management anspruchsvoller EPC(M)-Projekte sowie im Umgang mit Generalunternehmern mit. Eine Projektmanagement-Zertifizierung (z. B. PMP, PRINCE2) ist von Vorteil.
Deine fundierten Kenntnisse in Projektcontrolling und Risikomanagement sowie deine Expertise in Genehmigungsverfahren und behördlicher Abstimmung tragen maßgeblich zum Projekterfolg bei.
Idealerweise kennst du dich mit abfallrechtlichen Vorgaben, Immissionsschutz und den Strukturen eines Chemieparks aus.
Du arbeitest gerne im Team, übernimmst Verantwortung und setzt gemeinsam mit anderen ambitionierte Ziele um.
Du überzeugst durch deine Kommunikations- und Verhandlungsstärke und bist in der Lage, verschiedenste Stakeholder professionell einzubinden.

Unser Prozess

Der cylib-Prozess bietet einen kompletten End-to-End-Prozess vom Batteriepack bis zum grünen Batteriematerial, indem es eine Kombination aus mechanischer und thermischer Vorbehandlung sowie eine innovative Lithium- und Graphitrückgewinnung auf Wasserbasis einsetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den etablierten Unternehmen kann cylib daher Batteriematerialien wie Lithium, Graphit oder Mangan zurückgewinnen. Das Verfahren wurde in mehrjähriger Forschungsarbeit an der RWTH Aachen entwickelt und bietet eine effiziente, ressourcen- und klimafreundliche Rückgewinnung aller Batteriematerialien aus Altbatterien.

Die Technologie von cylib ermöglicht die Rückgewinnung aller Batteriekomponenten, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um eine End-of-Life-Batterie oder Produktionsausschuss handelt. Die Rückgewinnung grüner Sekundärrohstoffe aus dem cylib-Prozess ermöglicht die Verwirklichung einer echten Kreislaufwirtschaft auf dem europäischen Markt.
