Head of Hydrometallurgy (m/f/d) in the field of battery recycling

Your mission

You coordinate various wet-chemical areas in hydrometallurgy.
You take over the technical and personnel management of a team of experts and are responsible for the further development of the team.
You will coordinate technical and organizational measures to ensure that the hydrometallurgical process runs smoothly.
You will be responsible for the effective management of risks and problems during the commissioning of complex projects in your area.
You will lead and motivate the team of professionals to achieve the set targets and ensure continuous improvements.
You work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to find holistic solutions for a sustainable recycling process.
You support the implementation of new processes and technologies to optimize the recycling or processing of battery materials.
In all tasks, you will always consider economic issues and work towards the company mission.

Your profile

You have at least 10 years of professional experience, including relevant experience in the management of a laboratory or in the coordination of larger teams.
You have a degree in chemistry, process engineering or chemical engineering, ideally with a doctorate.
You have extensive experience in inorganic chemistry and/or hydrometallurgy.
Sound knowledge of the recycling or processing technology of battery materials is desirable.
You have strong communication skills and the ability to work in a dynamic start-up environment.
You have a collaborative leadership style, coupled with the ability to inspire teams and successfully lead them through complex projects.
You are highly motivated to further expand the hydrometallurgy division.
You bring flexibility and adaptability to our dynamic scale-up environment.
Very good written and spoken German and English skills round off your profile.

About us

cylib is a research-based German scaleup for holistic battery recycling - starting from discharging to recovery of all components of the lithium battery - that was founded in Aachen in 2022 by three visionary founders, including a female CEO.

Our process

The cylib process offers a complete end-to-end process from battery pack to green battery material by employing a combination of mechanical and thermal pre-treatments and an innovative water-based lithium and graphite recovery. Unlike incumbents, cylib can therefore recover battery materials such as lithium, graphite or manganese. The process was developed over several years of research at the renown RWTH Aachen University and offers an efficient, resource- and climate friendly recovery of all battery materials from end-of-life batteries.

cylib's technology enables the recovery of all battery components regardless of whether it is an end-of-life battery or not. Recovery of green secondary raw materials from the cylib process enables the realization of the true Circular Economy on the European market.

Du koordinierst verschiedene nasschemische Bereiche in der Hydrometallurgie.
Du übernimmst die fachliche und personelle Führung eines Expert:innenteams und verantwortest den weiteren Aufbau des Teams.
Du koordinierst technische und organisatorischen Maßnahmen zur Sicherstellung eines reibungslosen Ablaufs des hydrometallurgischen Prozesses.
Du übernimmst das effektive Management von Risiken und Problemen im Rahmen der Inbetriebnahme komplexer Projekte in deinem Bereich.
Du führst und motivierst das Team von Fachkräften, um die gesetzten Ziele zu erreichen und kontinuierliche Verbesserungen zu gewährleisten.
Du arbeitest eng mit verschiedenen internen und externen Stakeholdern zusammen, um ganzheitliche Lösungen für einen nachhaltigen Recyclingprozess zu finden.
Du unterstützt bei der Implementierung neuer Prozesse und Technologien zur Optimierung der Recycling- oder Verarbeitungsprozesse von Batteriematerialien.
Bei allen Aufgaben berücksichtigst du stets ökonomische Fragestellungen und arbeitest auf die Unternehmensmission hin.

Dein Profil

Du hast mindestens 10 Jahre Berufserfahrung, davon relevante Erfahrung in der Leitung eines Labors oder in der Koordination größerer Teams.
Du besitzt ein abgeschlossenes Studium in Chemie, Verfahrenstechnik oder Chemieingenieurwesen, idealerweise mit Promotion.
Du hast umfangreiche Erfahrung in der anorganischen Chemie und/oder Hydrometallurgie.
Fundierte Kenntnisse in der Recycling- oder Verarbeitungstechnologie von Batteriematerialien sind wünschenswert.
Du bringst ausgeprägte Kommunikationsstärke und die Fähigkeit, in einem dynamischen Start-up-Umfeld zu arbeiten, mit.
Du hast einen kooperativen Führungsstil, gepaart mit der Fähigkeit, Teams zu inspirieren und erfolgreich durch komplexe Projekte zu leiten.
Du bist hochmotiviert, den Bereich Hydrometallurgie weiter auszubauen.
Für unser dynamisches Scale-Up Umfeld bringst du Flexibilität und Anpassungsfähigkeit mit.
Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Schrift und Sprache runden dein Profil ab.

Unser Prozess

Der cylib-Prozess bietet einen kompletten End-to-End-Prozess vom Batteriepack bis zum grünen Batteriematerial, indem es eine Kombination aus mechanischer und thermischer Vorbehandlung sowie eine innovative Lithium- und Graphitrückgewinnung auf Wasserbasis einsetzt. Im Gegensatz zu den etablierten Unternehmen kann cylib daher Batteriematerialien wie Lithium, Graphit oder Mangan zurückgewinnen. Das Verfahren wurde in mehrjähriger Forschungsarbeit an der RWTH Aachen entwickelt und bietet eine effiziente, ressourcen- und klimafreundliche Rückgewinnung aller Batteriematerialien aus Altbatterien.

Die Technologie von cylib ermöglicht die Rückgewinnung aller Batteriekomponenten, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um eine End-of-Life-Batterie oder Produktionsausschuss handelt. Die Rückgewinnung grüner Sekundärrohstoffe aus dem cylib-Prozess ermöglicht die Verwirklichung einer echten Kreislaufwirtschaft auf dem europäischen Markt.
